It’s football

It’s strange to think that Scotland last played a World Cup match 2 years before my 26 year old son, Tom was born. Today is the day though and a win is vital because the other 2 teams in the group are tricky to say the least.

It’s strange to think that hydration breaks are suddenly needed in football no matter what the temperature they are playing in. Guess this is what happens in a country where sport is regularly interrupted by adverts and FIFA has been happy to ruin the flow of each game just for money.

It’s strange how so few people are putting up the St George Cross for this World Cup in England in comparison to previous tournaments. It is almost as if they don’t want to be seen as one of the right-wing flag shaggers who have ruined our flags for so many.

It’s strange how the man who was awarded the FIFA Peace Prize, a token trophy for a big baby, is currently causing chaos around the world with his military. It’s strange how so many people are scared of entering the US for fear of being sent straight back.

It’s just a strange World Cup and one which I and so many I know are not as bothered about as we have been in the past. I can’t put my finger on who or what has caused this. OK, I can put my finger on the individual who has decimated the greatness of the biggest sporting tournament in the world.
