The wheels on the bus…

I know people who are shouting loud for Reform, who hate Kier Starmer and who believe that Nigel Farage is the saviour of the UK.

These people did not get involved in political discussions in the past because they did not understand the nuance of the debates and the complexity of the topics. Politics was a thing that just happened in the background while they blundered through life making a living despite their obvious limitations.

They listen to the ‘policies’ of Reform, or rather soundbites, and they are hooked because they can understand what they are saying, and they also now have someone to blame for their own failings.

“Look over there, boats full of brown people”, “It’s the people who are sick on benefits that are taking your money” and so it goes on. No real substance from Reform, no understanding of what is going wrong in the UK and no intention to fix the lives of young people and those who need help. It’s simply a selection of anti-other people words that over time stirs people up more and more until they can see no other way.

And then we had the local elections and Reform absolutely destroyed the opposition. Labour is in the gutter, the Conservatives are even deeper in the gutter and even the Green Party have not done as well as they would have expected. Scotland and Wales have always been immune to racism which is mainly an English problem, but even that immunity is waining because Reform made some decent gains in these countries as well.

It does not matter that Nigel Farage was behind the disastrous Brexit, it does not matter than he took £5 million from a Thai-based crypto entrepreneur, it does not matter that their are questions about a recent house purchase or that he does not attend interviews that could be hard for him. The British media is largely right wing and he gets a free ride while the likes of Starmer do not. Weeks and weeks of coverage hit Starmer when he took some free spectacles from a donor. £5 million to Farage? Much less coverage and a willingness to push the story away and shout “nothing to see here!”

James O’brien summed up where we are going on his radio show yesterday-

It’s like being on a coach that is careering at 100 miles an hour towards the edge of a cliff edge and 52% of the passengers are singing “We’re all going on a summer holiday” and 48% of the passengers are shouting “We need to stop, we need to hit the brakes!”

52% of the people break off from singing, point at the 48% and laugh loudly “We love it hahaha, look at you hahaha. Losers!”

And then we drive off a cliff, and everyone pretends that we haven’t’

We are in Brexit all over again.

Where we go now is hard to work out, but I believe Starmer needs to go. I don’t want him to go, he and the Labour Party are doing MANY good things to fix the mess the Tories left behind, but his personality is not bringing the coverage to these wins that they deserve. And it is only personality that the people I mentioned in the first two paragraphs understand. They can’t deal with anything beyond what is right in front of their face.

My worry is that no matter who comes in to replace Starmer in a Labour government, the problem will continue under another name. Labour politicians don’t hate immigrants enough, they are dealing with the problem of immigration and the numbers are way down, but they do not visually and audibly ‘hate’ non-Brits.

This is where we are. Stupid people believing that the problem is elsewhere and caused by foreigners. It is never the stupid person’s fault, they can’t be bothered to fix their own lives or do anything for their community, they just want things fixed and the promises of a proven liar are good enough for them.

We cannot get out of this problem through racism, inward looking views and anger. We need a sensible approach in so many areas and intelligence in how we deal with an economy that is stubbornly not growing (partly because of Farage’s Brexit, but that apparently wasn’t his fault either), and that is the approach being taken by Labour. It doesn’t matter though because Starmer doesn’t hate enough. He is too convivial, too well spoken and too normal for these people.

We have our own MAGA building in the UK and are heading to having Trump 2.0 as our leader.

Do people not see what is happening every single day in America? Can they really not see that Farage is an absolute grifting shitbag? Or do they simply not care anymore?

I don’t know, I can’t work it out and I am close to giving up caring…
