What is the point of 5G?

But two and a half years on, there are signs that 5G — which is up to 100 times faster than 4G, the previous mobile network — is sinking rather than swimming… More here.

I must admit that I was (almost) excited to try out 5G on the iPhone 13 Pro, but 2 weeks later and it is disabled. Coverage is random and performance is inconsistent even when I have a decent signal. It has a LONG way to go to be a feature worth losing extra battery power for.
