The watch industry summed up in 1 minute

This is a clever and funny advert which ironically sums up the majority of watch marketing.

The advert below, however, is unusual because it is actually quite clever and makes a lot of sense- the punchline is brilliant and a smart dig at smartwatches.

The IWC Perpetual Calendar, invented by legendary watchmaker Kurt Klaus is one of the most intricate and intelligently designed movements in watchmaking. A watch full of complications with an uncomplicated user experience. So smart in fact, it can be operated by a single crown. But, the ever curious Mr. Klaus is always open to discovering something new. Join him as he takes a dive into the modern tech world to find out what makes a smartwatch a really smart watch?

  1. The first advert is very clever. A lot of marketing is like that, trying to make something seem very important and unique. I’ve seen car ads like that.

The second reminds me of the Mac vs PC ads, showing how something that should be easy to use isn’t, and how even seemingly complex design can be simple to use.
