We all know that being the President of the United States is a powerful position. Indeed, it’s always been badged as being the leader of the free world.
But today we have a so-called leader of the free world who is actually causing or heavily influencing the major issues of the day.
Iran. He went into his war that he was going to win in 24 hours, and he’s still there screwing it up, helping to push the price of oil to unseen levels, which consequently puts up inflation, which puts up interest rates, which will put up mortgage rates.
It will cause hundreds of thousands of people to lose their houses, to go bankrupt and to not even be able to afford food on a daily basis.
And for what? Why did he do this? To stop Iran having nuclear weapons, even though there was a deal in place that he ripped up previously.
He cannot have gone into Iran purely on that basis. And I have no doubt that in years to come we will find out that there was another reason behind it.
Just like we have seen with so many other of his schemes, whether it’s Bitcoin, whether it’s a helipad, a ballroom, or just making billions of dollars extra for his family while he is president. It’s crazy.
Ukraine. Again, we saw right from the start of the presidency: he is Putin’s puppet, and for whatever reason he won’t stand up to him.
In his heart he feels that Putin is a kindred spirit, someone to look up to, and he doesn’t like Zelensky because Zelensky is, overall, a good man just trying to defend his country.
And again, it puts the cost of oil up more, the cost of food and, in particular, many foods that Europe relies on. It puts those up more. And, of course, thousands of people are dying all of the time in Ukraine.
This war could have been stopped. And with a stronger president, I certainly believe it would have been stopped by now.
And then we have artificial intelligence, or as Trump would like to call it, super intelligence.
He said all you need is a smart president to stop artificial intelligence going awry.
Well, the obvious answer is: could someone find us a smart president, please?
And then he talks about, oh, you can just have a kill switch. He has no understanding of the future capability of artificial intelligence.
And as we saw only today with the hack that happened in Australia, it really is quite frightening.
We are very early on in this process, and already you’re just starting to see that the boundaries for an entity like artificial intelligence simply do not apply.
We tend to judge everything based on how we are, how a human behaves, what our morals are.
Artificial intelligence does not have that. It will never have that. It has a goal, whether it’s a tiny goal or whether it’s a large goal. That’s what it has, and its goal is to fulfil it.
You imagine asking artificial intelligence, let’s say it was very powerful, “Okay, I want you to stop climate change.”
You would think its logical approach would be, “Okay, kill all humans.”
That’ll do it. Probably would. It would fix the problem.
And yet Trump believes there’s no risk.
And I’ll tell you why: because he’s 80 years old and he just wants to make more money from artificial intelligence and to help those who run these companies, who heavily donated to him, succeed.
Well, they can’t all succeed, for one, and it will come crashing down at some point.
And finally, climate change, another thing he doesn’t believe in.
It is remarkable, these right-wing people who don’t believe in climate change, who believe in making people more divided, who often seem to believe in racism and Brexit and having ICE throw people out of the country, even if they’re citizens.
Climate change: they could not possibly know that it’s not a problem.
But again, it comes down to money. “Drill, baby, drill” was what Trump said.
And you look at the weather over the last year, and if you still believe that, you’re a moron. You really are.
So this man could overnight limit the damage in all of those four areas greatly. He could change things quickly for everyone and actually have a real legacy.
Yes, there are arguments about what China will do with AI, and there are many counterarguments, but the fact of the matter is it’s the United States of America who has a president who’s not acting like a US president.
It’s a disgrace. He’s going to lose the midterms. More pressure will co to him, but the people I despise the most for all of this are the people up there who allow him to do it, who follow what he says to the letter just so they can make a bit of money as well.
It’s sickening and it’s so sad that this is the point we’ve reached.
