The Fidget Spinner Watch

The (here goes the Amazon title) EUTOUR Men’s Watch Wristwatch Magnetic Watches Fancy Minimalist Unisex Watches Swiss Quartz Watch with Silicone/Leather/StainlessSteel/Wood Strap is currently on sale for £49.99, but can be found with discount quite often which is not a terrible price for a watch from a largely unknown brand.

It’s quartz powered, Swiss apparently, but no mention of what the actual quartz movement is inside. I will pop the back off at some point, but you should expect a suitable level of movement for the price.

The silicone strap is fine, decent enough quality and fairly comfortable and the case itself feels well constructed. I’m not sure if it’s well made or just heavy, a common trick for lower priced watches, but it does feel solid which is surprising given the dial and how it works.

I particularly like the blasted coating which offer no reflectivity at all, but it can give off the sense of ‘cheap’ which some may not like.

The main show is of course the unusual way this watch tells the time which is by using two magnetic beads. You spin the crown as normal and the two balls move around until the correct time is reached. It’s a strange feeling at first, but there is an even funnier trick. Shake the watch hard and the beads will love around and then magically go back to the correct time. Absolutely no practical purpose at all, but sometimes things just need to be different and fun.

There are other designs available, some of which are much more elegant, and I must say that I do appreciate the novelty aspect at play here. Only one part of the watch irks me and that is the fact that the hours are on the outside and the minutes on the inside. It would make more sense to have them the other way around to make it easier to get used to telling the time in such an unusual way.

It’s fun though and in my opinion worth the asking price. Time will tell as to how long it will last though.

  1. That’s kinda cool, but why did they swap the dials? Goofy.
