TCL NXTPAPER 60 Ultra review (part three)

So, the NXTPAPER has proved to be a real surprise and a fun device to use, one which I could happily use every day.

Privacy concerns aside, everything about it is fine and even the camera is decent which is good for just over £300. It has made me wonder just how good the +£1,000 Android phones are.

My main reason, however, for not being able to continue with this phone is Apple. iMessage is such a big thing for me and so is the general eco system of Apple One. Apple Notes is hard to replace and there are many apps that are only available on iOS that have become useful every day for me. I’m sure there are alternatives, but I have neither the energy or inclination to go through that now.

And then there is the Apple Watch which does not work with Android at all, Apple Health which destroys the competition and which is needed to work with pacing apps that are crucial to me. Apple TV is another one that benefits from an iPhone and the fact that all of this largely works is hard to walk away from.

The latest iOS is the worst I have seen for many years with keyboard and Safari problems popping up each day, but it’s good enough to still be 97% working perfectly.

I hate that I am stuck in the Apple eco system, but I like that I am starting to look at the competition and understand just how good it is.

If Apple doesn’t start innovating its software in the next year and catch up with AI, many more people will be looking elsewhere.

  1. Do you use alternate keyboards like Gboard? Maybe that would solve your keyboard problems.
