I have been trying iOS 26 on my iPad Air and I must say that it is not great. I’m not talking about the performance, it’s a beta, but rather the visuals.
Apple spent a long time explaining the ‘innovation’ of the glass effect and it’s all rather childish- it looks quite amateur at times and adds little apart from a new look, which is at times hard to view clearly. I got the sense during the presentation that they were reaching, a lot.
From the continued use of ‘intelligence’ as a description of basic new features to the over-emphasis on stuff that we do not really need. For some reason, this year felt more like gaslighting than previous.
It may all turn out alright and it may be an improvement in the end, but I fear that Apple could drop quite badly if it doesn’t keep up and change the approach that worked well for the past two decades. The thing is, those decades are gone now.
Ya, I’m pretty sure it’ll be like iOS 7 in that we won’t end up with much of the new look because it’s too hard to read with all that transparency and lack of contrast.
