IDPS™ offers several significant advantages over traditional GPS technology. Its signal independence allows for reliable navigation in challenging environments such as parking garages, tunnels, and mountainous areas where GPS often fails. The system operates in a closed loop, enhancing privacy by not emitting any data externally. Cost-effectiveness is another key benefit, as IDPS™ eliminates the need for expensive hardware like LEO satellites or terrestrial beacons, making it highly scalable. Additionally, the technology’s ability to work with existing sensors and hardware in car builds from 2009 onwards ensures easy integration and widespread applicability… More here.
I remember when GPS was somewhat hit and miss, or rather the devices we used to connect to the satellites were, but those problems have largely gone away now. However, I could see this idea being used for much more than just sat nav. Will be interesting to see where it goes.
I haven’t heard about this. I haven’t had GPS fail on me at all.
