I tried the Oura Ring…

I tried the Oura Ring for a week and was impressed in almost every way, but sadly it didn’t work out for me.

Pros

Connected straight away and the setup was flawless. My Ultrahuman Air experience was terrible at the start.

Despite the size of the ring it felt comfortable and didn’t take long to get used to.

Build quality felt decent and as though it would take a few knocks- had the titanium version.

I like the app and the way it displays information at the top level in an obvious way.

Cons

Step tracking is awful especially for activities such as indoor running.

I know it’s not a fitness tracker as such and not being accurate is not a problem as long as it is consistently inaccurate. I noticed some strange variations (up and down) which ultimately made me give it up. Not convinced I could easily track improvements.

Conclusion

I wanted to give up my Apple Watch Ultra so I could wear a normal watch, but alas not quite yet. The Oura is without doubt the best smart ring on the market and for 95% of people it will work very well.

I work from home and need stats to make me do 10,000 steps a day and to get exercise minutes in when I can. I guess only a smart watch can do that. Well done Oura though. Lots of potential here.
