Glory Days: The Nokia 6310i

This phone was amazing. We found it in the garage a few years ago and it still had a charge, the superpower that made this phone indispensable to me. With a claimed battery life of up to 408 hours on standby and 7 hours talk time I would go as far as to say that these stats were understated.

Very much a corporate device and one which my company gave to everyone in a management position which is how I came to own it. I was travelling with the 6310i as my main device for calls and texts and whatever PDA I was using at the time for everything else.

From a time when we still spoke to each other and sent messages on a number keypad, it was by far the best available. It was only 111 grams and the design is timeless in a way that no other phone has managed. Hold this phone in your hand and try to find one aspect of the form that you would change, there is literally nothing that could be changed to improve it, at least not in 2002.

Despite the fact that this was a corporate device for me, the memories are nothing but positive and to this day it remains as the best ‘mobile phone’ I have ever used. Peerless call quality, unbelievable battery performance and build quality that was the high point of Nokia’s reign.

A remarkable phone.
