This video shows Marta C Gonzalez, a former prima ballerina who danced with the New York Ballet in the 1960s, sitting in her wheelchair at a nursing home in Valencia and listening to the finale of Swan Lake through headphones. As she does so, she begins to go gracefully through the choreography she learnt decades ago.
And that’s not even the most remarkable part. Ms Gonzalez, who sadly died last year, was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease at the time.
This is a remarkable clip and I was transfixed by her reaction and the way she recreated her past. She is also the dancer shown in parts during the video. YOU MUST WATCH THIS.
