The Jet Set

This was the first test flight of the prototype for what would become the Boeing 707, an aircraft that would change the world. Four years later, it was put into service by Pan American World Airways, more commonly known as Pan Am.

After a false start (when the British de Havilland Comet had commenced commercial flights in the early Fifties, only to be grounded in 1954 after a series of unexplained crashes), the jet age had begun… More here.
