Apple screwed up, responded well

“We greatly regret this error and we apologize to all Mac users, both for releasing with this vulnerability and for the concern it has caused. Our customers deserve better. We are auditing our development processes to help prevent this from happening again.”

The screw up was potentially huge and not exactly forgivable, but the response feels substantial and quick enough in my view.

  1. Usually the description says that the update is recommended for all users. This time it says “Install this update as soon as possible.” Not only a fast response but a more direct instruction. Assuming people read it of course.

  2. Oh, and I just noticed there’s another security update this morning. I hope this wasn’t needed to fix the fix, although that wouldn’t be the first time in the history of computers that happened.
