A generation who have spent their entire adolescence with smartphones are feeling the effects.
My understanding is that teenage crime is down, under-age sex is down and that many children are actually more social than the generation before. All of those could be marginally attributed to the smartphone as much as anything else.

I am not sure how official the reports out there are, but a friend of mine who worked as a defence lawyer few years ago said exactly the same. Teenage crime, drugs, violence, all slowly drifting lower as kids have something to do without needing to cross lines.
