John Stoddard explained that his daughter’s school holds a “drive-in” movie event each year, “where the kids and their parents are supposed to bring a cardboard car or spaceship to sit in while they watch a movie on the last day of school.” A couple of years ago, his brother made an X-Wing fighter, and this year, Stoddard decided to make his own Star Wars spaceship for his daughter to take with her… More at The Verge.

This is very cool, but it reminds me of the alpha-mums who used to go completely over the top whenever there was a dress-up day at school. My wife or I would spend 10 minutes creating something that fitted the topic for the day whereas others seemed to have hired original costumes from hundreds of years ago so that their little darlings could WIN!
