Mac App Store Scams

Try to put yourself into the mental state of a novice computer user. You have a brand new iMac, and you want to edit some Excel spreadsheets. In the dock you find that App Store you’ve heard so much about, so you open it. You find the search bar, then type “Microsoft Excel.” More at How-To Geek

I, like many others, tend to think this does happen on Apple stores. Well, think again.

  1. What’s more bothersome is that this is supposed to be a curated app store. Each app is supposed to be tested and verified. That’s what Apple claims, or at least implies. Those apps should never have made it through vetting. Maybe that’s no longer the case, but they have certainly made a big deal out of their current culling.
