A 10.5-inch iPad Pro. Really?

Sources in Apple’s supply chain have corroborated claims that the company will launch a 10.5-inch iPad in 2017.

The device is thought to be aimed at the enterprise and education sectors, where the 9.7-inch iPad is considered too small and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is too expensive… More at Cult of Mac.

Really? Of all the things Apple could do to increase sales and profits, making a third iPad Pro that sits between the current two makes little sense to me.

There may well be some need for such a device and evidence may suggest that it is logical to create it, but it feels very unlike Apple. This is supposed to be a company that makes a device that is perfect for the needs of the majority and here we are with yet another iPad size, it would be the 4th.

  1. I’ll be bummed if they keep the mini-size as a budget, non-pro (aka no pencil support) model only. It’s ideal as a reader and would be lovely as a doodle notebook.
