$169 for a small 5TB hard drive is very impressive. I do, however, worry about drives that do not use external power in preference to USB. I have had multiple problems with USB-powered drives in the past.

Looks good to me. I haven’t had trouble with USB power.
I have 3 Seagate 4TB portable drives. One is hooked up permanently and the other two I alternate as backups and offsite storage. I expect a 3 year reliable life span just because it’s a spinning hard drive. Anything more is gravy.
