Experts ‘claiming’ not to know

Britain’s soaring sickness bill has left policymakers and economists scratching their heads, with near-record numbers of workers absent on long-term health grounds costing the public purse more than £65.7 billion a year.

Some 2.8 million people now claim incapacity and disability benefits, far above pre-pandemic levels, and the House of Lords’ economic affairs committee has warned that the problem cannot be attributed solely to deteriorating health or NHS delays. How can they claim not to understand when the number of people suffering from Long Covid, ME/CFS and other autonomic illness has sky rocketed following a worldwide pandemic?

It feels like there is a determined movement to not accept the real ramifications of Covid and what it has done to the world. This will only get worse unless governments do something about it, of which Germany appears to be the only one trying to understand the causes.
