It appears to me that trying to do anything online which involves money is starting to feel risky or at the very least likely to cause frustration.
There are eBay, Vinted and other services that have declined greatly over the past few years to the point that it can feel like a game of cat and mouse as you try to avoid buyers who make spurious claims about items they have received, sellers who pump out fake products (I have reported a few fake watch listings to eBay and they reject the reports every single time, it’s all money to them) and the likes of Evri who do not appear to be able to deliver two parcels in a row without a problem.
I have given up on selling anything online and haven’t done so for some time now, but there is another issue- flippers who get hold of limited products and try to make a fast buck. Nothing wrong with this, but all they do is stop real people buying the products they want.
At least there are some positive stories around-
Earlier this week, Richard discovered a listing for a yet-to-be-shipped Studio Underd0g x Fears 02SERIES Mim0sa watch on eBay, and not only was it being offered well above its retail price, but the listing claimed the seller had 10 watches available for sale. So, after some detective work, the order for 10 watches, placed by the same person who created the eBay listing, was swiftly cancelled and refunded… More here.
They could have sold many more watches, but they chose not to and it highlights that for some people having enough is enough, and that the endless pursuit of money never really works in the long run.
And what exactly are we buying? Check out the video below. Makes sense to me.

I haven’t sold much online although I’ve bought a few eBay things recently. When I retire I probably will sell a bunch of equipment there.

It is very safe and reliable to sell on eBay – at least, here in Australia. If the item is not as described or doesn’t work or has any other issues, eBay refunds our money.

I think that bit works well over here, but sellers really struggle with dodgy buyers who are often favoured by eBay.
