I am not a fan of going the full minimalist route that you see touted all over YouTube and by people who are, I presume, mostly vegan. It often comes over as doing it because it is cool or retro, but the reality is that you will lost time and convenience by going too far.
Since using the Remarkable 2 I have realised that working on an e-ink screen and writing feels more natural and I get just as much done with it as I would with any other device. For what I want it for, it does the job perfectly.
I am going to take this a step further and get a keyboard folio so that I can write up content without a normal screen and potentially this will remove the glare from 80% of my screen time away from work.
My iPad was sold today, as was my Ultra 2 in favour of the Remarkable and a traditional watch, and so all that remains is my old M1 MacBook and iPhone. Oh, I forgot my AirPods and Apple TV.
Those will remain, you can go too far, but I hope that stepping away a little from the sensual overload of modern devices will improve my health a bit and potentially calm me down. Here’s hoping…
