Forever Max

I finally finished Forever Max which took more time than I expected because I had to stop a few times. It would be an underestimate to say it is emotional, but boy it was a tough read near the end.

I heard someone on YouTube criticising the fame of Max as she exclaimed that all he did was dog things and nothing special. I can only presume that she has never owned a dog and that she is just a miserable git who doesn’t like seeing joy in others. Probably time she just went to X and stayed there.

Over the past few months my health has been poor and at times quite hard to deal with, and it was only recently that I noticed the pattern of behaviour from my dog, Bailey.

If I am struggling he will be sat next to me and leaning on me. If I fall asleep he is by my side and I noticed that it can go as far as sensing when I am struggling even if there is no physical sign at all.

This is what is described so well in Forever Max and it is this that makes a dog such a brilliant companion. They are kind, want to love and be loved, and they do things so subtly that it could be easily missed. Dogs are so special, truly we don’t deserve them and Max’s owner, Kerry, understands that perfectly.

I should also thank Kerry for the nice note in the paperback version-
