MacBook or iPad? Apple makes this decision very difficult

My M1 MacBook Air is not doing so well recently and I am having multiple issues with it. It is a 256GB model which does not help and after 4 years of use I think it is time to move on.

I don’t use it much these days and find myself using a 4th generation iPad Air much more often. The problem is that there are still some functions I need a MacBook for. I say that and it may not be 100% correct, but if I had to replicate all that I do in MacOS on an iPad it would take time to research and potentially certain tasks would take longer to perform.

A new MacBook Air would cost £999 for 256GB and to get similar functionality I would be looking at an iPad Air 13″ at £899 for the same 256GB and a Magic Keyboard for £299. Oh, I may need a new Apple Pencil because Apple likes to dick about with compatibility so we all pay more.

We have reached a point where it is £200 more expensive for an iPad with a keyboard than a MacBook, but you do get the flexibility of handwritten note taking. However, you also get an OS that has never been properly upgraded to take advantage of the power of the iPad hardware so it still feels limiting in some areas.

All of this crossover, price manipulation and confusion leads me to just want to stick with what I have until it truly dies because Apple makes upgrading sooooooooo difficult!
