There is a BIG gulf…

He’d rather have his name emblazoned on a building he doesn’t own than own a building that doesn’t bear his name. To Trump, the name on the sign is more important than the deed. So too, now, with the name on a map. The Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water that belongs to no nation, but declaring this new name implies that it heretofore belonged to Mexico, and now belongs to us, which is to say belongs to him, our unquestioned dear leader… More here.

Decent article from John, as ever, and he covers the topic of changing the Gulf of Mexico name very well. However, there are now much bigger problems appearing and perhaps an even bigger gulf is appearing thanks to Trump’s crazy, and unhinged, rhetoric on Ukraine.

Don’t be surprised if Europe bands together here because it is geographically much more vulnerable to Russia and if that happens, half a billion people is a powerful force to contend with.

Trump thinks that America is not vulnerable in any way, but he could be starting the process of losing much of the soft and hard power that made America what it is today. And Europe could well leave America behind, which I am sad to say makes perfect sense today. I just feel so sorry for the Americans who did not vote for him.
