A168WA-1UWD – pretty much perfect

£25, that’s what I paid, is not a lot of money for a watch and it is in fact close to as low as you can get for a timepiece that could easily last you for two decades and more.

It is actually hard to pinpoint when this watch was originally launched, but if you go by Casio, who should know, we are looking at a watch that has been in production for 30 years.

Think about your phone, TV, car or almost anything else. 30 years is a looooooong time for a product that is still revered to this day, and which is more than useful.

You get a simple paper box, a manual and not much else, but it doesn’t matter because you also get a special watch that is like a classic Mini car from the UK. It is one of very few cars that can be driven comfortably by tall and short people and the same applies to this watch.

Obviously you cannot drive it, but I am one of the taller people and I have big wrists which means I wear a 41mm watch every day. The Casio comes in at a mere 35mm, but it is square and crucially has a design that somehow gives it much more presence that it should have. I can wear it and it does not look odd at all which is quite a trick.

Functionally it is classic Casio-

Accuracy

That’s a lot for the money and it all works logically, once you have gotten over the setup process which is more than a little irritating.

I can’t say much else about this watch. I remember it from when I was younger and it has never changed. It has never needed to change because it was somewhat perfect right from the start, and it deserves a place on anyone’s wrist 30 years after it was born. An absolute classic.
