Interesting thoughts!
When I think about the mass of Mac products Steve Jobs famously cut through to make a simple 4 quadrant Consumer vs Pro, Laptop vs Desktop… is today’s extended iPhone and iPad line up less confusing? If so why? Because things are numbered? (Or if they’re not numbered, weirdly, they have no name at all) Is it because most devices in a family are roughly as powerful as their siblings, in a way that was less true for computers in the late-90s? Are people just better informed because of the Internet?
It’s an interesting question, given the apparent contrast but parallel success in the Steve Jobs cut and the Tim Cook cultivate.
