
Another major cyber-attack could be imminent after Friday’s global hit that infected more than 125,000 computer systems, security experts have warned.
UK security researcher “MalwareTech”, who helped to limit the ransomware attack, predicted “another one coming… quite likely on Monday”… More at The BBC.

As I understand it, this is a Windows thing. So unless you’re running BootCamp, it shouldn’t affect you directly. That said, viruses, malware, trojans, etc can be spread via email whether you’re on a Mac or not. I don’t know if this one falls into that category. I run a virus checker that also checks for Windows viruses not so much to prevent Mac viruses, but to try to make sure I don’t spread anything to people running Windows.

I vaguely remember wresting with SMB and Samba servers or printers and crap in like the late 90s or early 2000s. Man that was a steaming pile even back then.
I wonder if it’s a buffer overrun or what
