Apple, Google and Facebook will still be around and ‘bigger’ in 2075

In an interview with USA Today, Wozniak said Apple would be around for “a long time” much like the long-running IBM that has been in business since 1911.

“Apple will be around a long time, like IBM,” Wozniak recently told USA Today. “Look at Apple’s cash. It can invest in anything.” The Cupertino company reported a record $246.1bn (£196bn) in cash reserves in the fourth quarter of 2016.

“It would be ridiculous to not expect them to be around [in 2075]. The same goes for Google and Facebook… More at IBT.

I’m not convinced by his arguments here. Not so long ago, people said the same about Netscape, Nokia and many others and look what happened. The days of organisations that survive for hundreds of years are no longer certain.

  1. IBM is an interesting case. They’ve had to reinvent themselves a few times.
Nokia – well, they too are still around, right? Just “Nokia as THE cellphone maker” (I remember when i was working for them they held the title for biggest maker of cameras, the ones on their phones of course)
